The University of New Hampshire was founded in 1866 and has grown to become an undergraduate oriented research university--a public land, sea, and space-grant university. The campus retains the look and feel of a small New England liberal arts college, in a rural setting, with a faculty dedicated to teaching and engagement.
Student activism, undergraduate research, recreational and intercollegiate athletics, and the New Hampshire Presidential Primary, all play important role in campus life. UNH Dining has won numerous national awards, and offers a wide variety of cuisine for every cultural taste or dietary need at several recently renovated venues, plus special events and celebrations. Our Residential Life staff prides itself on our small residence halls with strong and active communities.
Durham is a small college town, just 20 minutes away from Atlantic beaches and the small seaside city of Portsmouth, NH. Boston, MA is one hour to the south, Portland, ME one hour to the north.
