ECU is the home to 27,000 raging "Pirates". Purple and gold is a prominent color that is displayed with pride on campus and in the Greenville community. ECU originally was founded as a teacher training college that blossomed into a national research university. This University offers 100 undergraduate degree programs across eleven colleges that reflect the diverse interests of the student body, plus the support students need to be successful. It is one of 17 public universities that make up the University of North Carolina system of schools, and a residential high school for exceptional students. There is truly something at ECU for everyone.
Need a break from studies and research, not a problem. ECU has 300 organizations, intramural sports, the creative arts, and of course the beach and the famous Outer Banks, rated as one of the top beaches in the U.S.
ECU is located in Greenville, NC and is 1.5 hours from both the beach and from the state capital, Raleigh.
Please recognize that it is very difficult to get engineering, clinical laboratory science, speech and hearing sciences, health service management, athletic training, and interior design classes.
