Program Description:

Eastern IllinoisEastern Illinois University

Eastern Illinois University is a mid-sized, residential institution offering over 48 majors/minors, a 16:1 student-faculty ratio, personal attention, and experiential learning in 4 colleges: Arts & Humanities, Sciences, Education & Professional Studies, and Business & Applied Sciences. EIU's new $60 million Fine Arts Center establishes Eastern as a cultural hub for the area. Its Renewable Energy Center, which opened in 2011, is one of the largest biomass renewable energy centers in the country. Interested and qualifying students can pursue coursework in Honors programs, undertake independent research, practice the creative arts, participate in student media, and serve as resident assistants. EIU's 70,500-square-foot on-campus recreation center is open to all EIU students.

Charleston, Illinois, is a small city with a rural feel located approximately 3 hours from Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis. It combines hominess with accessibility to travelers.
