Program Description:

Florida International UniversityFlorida International University

Florida International University is located in Miami, which has become a dynamic center of commerce, culture, and tourism. Greater Miami offers cultural and recreational activities including The New World Symphony, The Miami City Ballet, and professional sports teams in basketball, football, baseball, and hockey. A few miles to the west of the city are the Everglades and to the south the Florida Keys. Terrific swimming, snorkeling, diving, and fishing are just a 35 minute drive from Miami. The city's multi-ethnic population provides the opportunity to become acquainted with many cultures, especially those from Latin America and the Caribbean. The University opened its doors to 5667 students in 1972. Today, the University boasts over 49,000 students. With its international focus, the University offers more than 200 bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs in 21 colleges and schools, including a fully accredited college of law and a college of Medicine.

Campus Location

FIU has two campuses, the 344-acre Modesto A. Maidique campus in western Miami, including a neighboring 40-acre Engineering center, and the 200-acre Biscayne Bay campus in Northeastern Miami.

On-campus Housing is based on availability and is not guaranteed, especially room-type or preference. Housing applications will only be accepted by given deadlines. It is strongly recommended that you have vehicle transportation within Miami if living off-campus. The NSE Club at FIU offers students the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills, while promoting campus involvement. It assists students in understanding their role within the FIU community and cultural difference.

This list is maintained by the host NSE coordinator and is kept up-to-date. All classes taken while on an NSE exchange will transfer back as LSU credit. The LSU NSE coordinator will work with you to determine course equivalencies.
